On 9-10, February 2015 at Kazakh Agro technical University named after S.Seyfullina was held a coordinating meeting «E-Learning as a tool of University Development» within the TEMPUS project «Introduction of Quality Management in e-learning at the Central Asian universities » (QAMEL).

Representatives from Germany, France, Lithuania, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and representatives from Ministries of Education and Science of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan took part in the meeting.

The purpose of the 2-day discussions was to discuss the first progress towards the implementation of E-Learning Centers in 9 universities – participants of the project, as well as to develop a common approach for the publication of a joint E-Learning catalog, which must be submitted to the Ministries of Education and Science of three Central Asian republics as recommendations for the development of E-Learning in higher education by the end of August 2015.

The key issues of coordination meetings were:

- Results of the first year consortium’s project activity;

- Successes and challenges of the creation and development of E-Learning centers at Partner – universities of Central Asia;

- Development of strategy ensuring the sustainability and dissemination of project results in the partner countries;

- Discussion of project monitoring results and identification of ways to improve the work of the consortium;

- Discussion of structure and content of guidelines on E-learning.

Representatives from BAFE: Rector of BAFE, Svetlana Sirmbard (Project coordinator from BAFE) and Head of Educational Department, Nurkyz Suerkulova have attended the coordinating meeting.

Introducing a national strategy ensuring the sustainability and dissemination of project results in Kyrgyzstan, Svetlana Sirmbard elaborated on the importance of the interaction of three key partners of E-Learning in Kyrgyzstan: Ministry of education and science of Kyrgyz Republic, Kyrgyz Association of Distance Education and the project consortium, as well as the role of each of them.

Nurkyz Suyerkulova presented the project approach to the development of E-learning center in BAFE, she noted the importance of involving in the process of E-learning introduction of various groups of employees (faculty, administration, staff support services) and students, their active cooperation.

Introducing the draft (project) of one of the key manual section on development of E-Learning «Quality Management” Svetlana Sirmbard noted that the development of quality standards for E-Learning and their compliance with models of independent accreditation, which are currently under discussion in Kyrgyzstan is one of the priorities.

A new meeting of the project is planned for August 2015 in Issyk-Kul State University.
