From 10 to 12 December 2018, the head of the educational department of Adam University /BAFE Suerkulova N.T., taking part at the fifth meeting of the working group, organized on the theme: “Evidence-based policy development in vocational education and training and higher education”.

The purpose of this meeting:

The proposed initiative and the establishment of a working group are aimed at exploring and developing the concept of evidence-based policy development and monitoring to enhance the capacity of Central Asian countries and to use evidence for policy analysis and policy development in vocational education and training (VET) and higher education (HE). This initiative is based on the methodology of the study policy, will be developed and implemented by CAEP in collaboration with the European Foundation for education and to draw on the experience of the ETF in the field of the Torino process.

This initiative aims to address the following challenges:

  • Strengthening of monitoring functions in the countries of Central Asia due to the expansion of knowledge and skills of participants in the initiative.
  • Exchange of experiences and lessons learned among participating countries, as well as with the EU, on the approach to evidence-based policies and improving efficiency, including tools and methods of work, as well as the role of participants.
  • Establishment of a structure in the region to continue the exchange of experience and knowledge in VET/higher education and skills development.

The fourth and fifth meetings of the working group are devoted to evidence related to the transition process, covering two different themes, namely, career guidance (fourth meeting) and tracking the professional path of graduates (fifth meeting). Both meetings are devoted to the exchange of experiences on existing approaches in Central Asia and the EU on these two topics, with particular emphasis on the availability and use of quantitative and qualitative data in these approaches. As in the case of the working group meetings held in 2017, participants will be able to discuss the possibility of applying some aspects of the seminar in their country. The seminar will contain practical sessions on approaches to the development and monitoring of the professional path of graduates. In addition, experts from Latvia and Poland will share the experience of their countries in the field of tracking graduates.
