The IV Students Round table on the topic “Problems of biodiversity conservation in Kyrgyzstan” took place at the BAFE on November 27, 2015. Program “Management and Tourism” was an organizer of the event.

The goal of the round table was in formation of an active civic position of students in relation to the conservation of flora and fauna (biodiversity) of Kyrgyzstan. Tasks of the round table were: find out what the meaning of “biodiversity” and how we understand it; get acquainted with the state of biodiversity in the Kyrgyz Republic; discuss on environmental threats biodiversity reduction; consider international practices on the conservation of biodiversity.

Opening the event, BAFE Vice-rector on students support, PhD, Assoc., Egemberdiev Sh. E. noted the importance of biodiversity conservation in Kyrgyzstan and wished a successful and fruitful work.

Head of the program “Management and Tourism” candidate of economic sciences A.A. Mambetova spoke about the BAFE activities, as dynamic university, on the implementation of international projects and academic mobility of students, in partnership with universities in Spain, Austria, Norway, France, Italy, Germany and others.

Roundtable participants also learned about the possibility of continuing education in the BAFE master program. Acting docent M.K. Ryskulova, continuing the work of the round table, told the participants about the state of biodiversity of Kyrgyzstan and the threats of its extinction. Senior lecturer of the IUK “International law” department S. Karabalaeva noted that some issues require the adoption of new regulations, rules, aimed at strengthening the regulatory and control measures, as well as improve their enforcement: “Kyrgyz legislation proclaims the need to preserve biodiversity, natural ecosystems, natural landscapes and natural complexes. However, measures for the conservation of biodiversity are not sufficiently clearly defined in legal documents regulating environmental protection activities in the country “.

Research assistant in Biology and Soil Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic G. Dyikanbaeva, in her speech stressed the need for biodiversity conservation and similar events aimed at improving the ecological culture and environmental awareness of students. She voiced a number of problems faced by the designers when assessing biodiversity – the lack of background information about the features of biodiversity in the country.

Students from ten universities of the capital have submitted 16 reports, among which there were reports of college students of economics and finance.

After performance of the students, a wide exchange of views and a discussion took place, with the participation of BAFE program “Management and Tourism” teachers – R. Tuleyev, A.A. Mambetova, M.K. Ryskulova and guests of the round table. Сlosing the roundtable, M.K. Ryskulova expressed gratitude to all participants of the round table, and noted that the discussion was constructive and for the benefit of all stakeholders.
